Restoration Advisory Board Meeting

January 18, 2012, RAB Meeting – Canceled.  On behalf of Mr. Jerry Hodgson, USACE Co-Chair, the FLBGR Restoration Advisory Board (RAB) meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 18, 2012, has been canceled.  Because of the holidays and the winter weather we have been experiencing, minimal progress in the field work has occurred since the last RAB meeting, held on 19 October 2011.  As such, any information that would have been presented at a January meeting would be basically the same as that presented last October.  The next RAB meeting will be held on 18 April 2012 at 6 pm at the USACE Site Compound, 25950 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora, CO 80016.

Five-Year Review. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with the Colorado Department of Public Health and the Environment and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, are conducting a five-year review of this project. This review is to evaluate ongoing munitions response activities and determine if the approach continues to reduce explosive safety risks and is protective of human health, safety, and the environment with regard to projected future land uses.
The five-year review process includes the following primary activities:

• Document reviews;
• Interviews with key Range stakeholders; and
• Site inspections of work areas.

The final Five-Year Review Plan is available at the Information Repository located at the Aurora Public Library, 14949 E. Alameda Parkway, Aurora, CO 80012 and is available here for download. The Plan provides the approach, methods, and procedures for conducting the 2011 Five-Year Review of the military munitions response action being conducted at the FLBGR.

An overview of the five-year review process and schedule, and how the community can be involved, will be presented at the April 20, 2011 RAB meeting to be held at the USACE Site Compound.

Explosives Safety. The FLBGR 3Rs Explosives Safety Guide is available for download. The Guide includes a brief history of the FLBGR, an overview of the 3Rs, and ways to obtain additional information about the FLBGR project.
